Astro Weather for November 2006

Wow! November sure is an active month in terms of planetary activity. Some months are much busier than others, just like life. Before providing a detailed list of events and how these will influence us personally and collectively and/or how that can be strategically used to plan our life activities – yes fate and freewill are ever operative – I want to quickly draw your attention to the Numerology scope for the month.

I mentioned earlier that Numerology is actually a form of cosmic code. The 10 numbers 0 through nine correspond to the planets in our Solar System and the master numbers 11 and 22 refer to the ‘breath and/or heart beat of the sun as these time spans mark the most regular and rhythmic pulse of sun spot activity. There is so much more to say on this but let that play on your imagination/intuition for a while. So, 2006 = 8 making this a Universal 8 Growth Year number. Yes, there are other calendars, but that is ours and increasingly the whole world is dialled to this date line – think of collective co-creation, the hundredth monkey principle, the metaphysical law that energy goes where attention goes and so on. 8 is a powerful number symbolic of power, culmination, and harvest. Just like the figure that illustrates it, 8 is bursting with power. 8 is also a number of tests and toil – the work of harvesting. I like to refer to it as the number that represents the ‘playoffs’. With 8 the stakes are high and full attention and effort are required. With the controversial military activity in the Middle East culminating, you might appreciate this concept. Now, once the Universal Growth Year number is determined, we can calculate the Universal Growth Month number. Since November is the 11 month we simply add the two, which equals 19, then add 1+9 to = 10 which further reduces to 1+0 =1. So, while 19, 10 and 1 are all part of the same ‘number constellation, I will mostly focus on number 1. This is the second number 1 month of the year since February = a 2 month which when added to an 8 year = 10 or 1. Do keep in mind that 19 is a very powerful number since it is a number which illustrates the span of 1-9, the Sun Major Arcana card in the Tarot, and when 1 and 9 are added to = 10, we find the mysterious 0. Further, November is an 11 month which, as mentioned is a Master Number in Numerology. I trust that you are following my lead here. In simple terms, November stands to be a very powerful month of new beginnings. Interesting, October is itself the 10th month of the year and is indicative of new beginnings. I trust that most of you readers can qualify that October certainly was a month of some very noticeable new beginnings in your life. October is also a sneak preview month for the next year; I mentioned this in one of the earlier Astro Weather updates which remains posted on my site in UPDATES. However, in an 8 year, October is a 9 month implying endings. So, those new beginnings in October were, as is generally the case, inter-mixed with endings. I like to refer to 9 as the ‘bulbs month’ – long term changes and activities, while 1 is about seeds. So, November this year is a 1 Growth Month derived from all powerful 8, 11 and 19. Get ready for some extra stimulation, activity and drama this month because there will be plenty of it. If you would like a complete Numerological outline for your life, please call for an appointment in person or by phone.

Now, this extra active and dramatic month is also illustrated in the planetary activity which I am about to share with you. Remember, the Weekly Horoscope that I write provides clearer insights about what each sign can expect in terms of events, trends, rhythms and strategies for living in tune with these. While the Weekly Horoscope is popular because people do recognize that the insights correspond to their life, on a consistent basis, a Personal Reading is much more powerful, insightful and useful.

We enter November, election month in the U.S. with Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio along with the Sun, Venus, Mars and Jupiter. The Full Moon in Taurus on November 5th at 4:58 am PST will serve to trigger these, as the Moon is considered the trigger or final ‘fuse’ planet in terms of larger alignments. The larger picture includes a T-Square in Fixed Signs (= Two planets in 180 degree opposition with a third at 90 degrees, = square aspect, from each end of the pole) with Saturn in Leo and Neptune in Aquarius. So the Moon will briefly activate this T-Square configuration forming what is known as a Grand Square (basically 4 planets consecutively 90 degrees apart, in this case there are 5 in Scorpio!) in Fixed Signs. T-Squares are very charged configurations and when in Fixed Signs can be illustrated as an ice breaker ship moving steadily through ice covered waters, or of a bull dozer steadily moving a mountain or earth and rock. The good news is that there is movement because Grand Squares can indicate severely stuck energies. However, since it is the Moon that is involved in this configuration, we might recognize it as activating a bigger push, all engines fired – remember the fuse, in order to push through any existing obstacles.

More specifically, within this Fixed Sign planetary configuration, there is a very close Square aspect between Jupiter in Scorpio and Saturn in Leo. I referred to this in a couple of Weekly Horoscopes over the past month. Jupiter and Saturn together share a 20 year cycle which is closely aligned with social and especially economic trends. The last time they were in a Conjunction aspect (together) was in May 2000. They were part of a larger configuration – a Fixed Square – with Uranus in its own sign of Aquarius. The good news is that event was indicative of a revolution in the economy for the better based on accelerated communications and information networks and other new technologies. I will leave the rest to economists for now. The main point is that Jupiter is forming a ‘Waxing Square’ aspect which signifies a very dynamic release of energies – change, breakthrough, decisive action and forceful expression etcetera. The Waxing Square is symbolic of the spring thaw. The best example I can pose of this is the decreasing price of oil and gas prices at the pump. I do appreciate that others will have different opinions about what is good about this and/or not. All I aim to do here is illustrate the synchronicity of the timing of this trend. In simple terms, we can expect many more changes in the economy and they actually look quite promising! Some of these will be noticeable within the next month or so. The larger picture of this Jupiter Saturn cycle, however, will unfold over the next 14 years when Jupiter and Saturn form their next conjunction at the last degree of Capricorn – a critical degree by the way. But that is another story. Now, I will return back to the micro picture.

The micro picture is actually based on planetary activity not including the Moon. Each day let alone week or month, the Moon can make up to a dozen aspects. Watching the Moon and being able to understand and interpret some of the basic code language of Astrology offers a variety of rewards. In addition to being a very useful tool for measuring a natural bio-rhythmic process which people, especially women, artists, sensitive intuitive types and anyone or a more emotional and/or right brained emphasis in the nature, watching the Moon make move through the signs and make aspects to other planets is itself enough circumstantial evidence to statistically prove that Astrology works. If you are a sceptic for either scientific or religious bias reasons and want to really show some integrity, watch the Moon over the course of a few months using a Pocket Astrologer or Astrological calendar and you will soon be humbled, awakened and convinced of its validity. Daily Horoscopes and to some extent Weekly, actually focus upon the Moon. I teach a 1 Day workshop on how to use a Pocket Astrologer. This is an excellent tool and means of gaining entry into the celestial science of Astrology and, again, has very practical uses. If you are interested in learning about this, please contact me by phone or email.

Now that you have some extra background of the larger Astrological picture for this time, I will walk you through the planetary activity for the month. PLEASE NOTE: All the dates and times given are for PST. If you are reading this and live in another time zone, you will have to make the appropriate adjustments for the timing.

Also, for the sake of not having to repeat the basic meaning of each aspect to be reviewed, I am providing a brief outline of the aspects here below. I plan to write a more detailed article on Aspects for your use a little later and this will be posted on my site for easy reference. The following is a brief and basic overview of the meaning of Aspects:

Conjunction = 0 degrees and is illustrative of two planets sharing the same celestial longitude, in other words, they are together. This aspect has its root in the Sun/Moon cycle, as do all aspects, and corresponds to the New Moon. This aspect is neutral in that it depends upon which two planets are together. Some blend much better than others. Basically, a Conjunction Aspect marks the beginning of a new cycle between the two or, in rarer cases, more planets involved. Conjunctions are also symbolically linked to the Winter Solstice.

Sextile = 60 degrees and basically indicates smooth, flowing communication and opportunity.

Square = 90 degrees and basically indicates blocks, challenges or obstacles to overcome. The good news about Squares is they are charged with energy that can be used for positive and productive activity. They are best suited to work and business over leisure and play, unless in a dynamic activity. See how it is relative? Square aspects symbolically refer to the Half Moons which in turn are linked to the equinoxes or changes of season when there is equal hours of light and dark, just like the half lit Moons.

Trine Aspect = 120 degrees and basically implies fiery, creative energy that flows like a clear hot summer day at the beach. This energy can be used for simply relaxing (by way of a metaphor, sun tanning) or it can be applied in playful, creative, dynamic ways (swimming or surfing, for example)

Opposition = 180 degrees and basically refers to the need for or challenges to be more aware of self and others, to recognize individual differences in style and approach and overall needs and to learn to cooperate for mutual, collective success. Opposition aspects are symbolically linked to the Full Moon and so imply heightened energy, emotions and activity. Oppositions are symbolically linked to Summer Solstice.

Please Note: I will indicate the aspect using capital letters. Also, there are no specific aspects on certain days so those days will not be listed. I hope you enjoy and benefit form the key words at the end of each entry.

November 1st begins with a Square between Mercury and Saturn. You will recall that Mercury is retrograde in Scorpio and Saturn is in Leo. At best, this aspect implies communication (Mercury) and consolidation (Saturn) and can contribute to thorough, detailed, realistic communication. At worst, people will seem to be stuck in their own thoughts and will not be able to listen well tom others. Thanks to Mercury being in close conjunction with Jupiter and Saturn forming a Trine with Pluto, the effects of this aspect will be influenced for the better implying enthusiasm, both broad and penetrating perspectives and regenerative thinking and communication. Breakthrough!

Later in the day at 7:31 pm, a Trine between Venus in Scorpio and Uranus in Pisces at the 10th degree (There are exactly 30 degrees in each sign and each 10 degree segment indicates a slightly different level of the sign.) of those signs implies a very magnetic and intuitive energy pattern. Since Venus is in her Detriment (I will explain this more in the Aspects Article coming soon) sign placement of Scorpio, this configuration may well stir uneasy feelings that will lead to psychological probing and processes, especially regarding sexuality issues crossing into home and family themes. Since, this aspect is harmonious, resolutions may be achieved. Honour individual needs and desires.

November 2nd actually hosts no exact aspects at all, not even from the Moon. This occurs from time to time over the course of the year and is a day of special note in that it is usually a very smooth and unobstructed sort of energy pattern which, at worst, feels or creates mild states of depression. It is O.K. for business as usual and is especially ideal for taking time out to dream, muse and celebrate nature, art, and music and poetry etcetera. Peace and Beauty.

November 3rd The Sun in Scorpio forms a fiery creative Trine with Uranus in Pisces. This implies an inventive and intuitive energy pattern that could well be applied to psychic, psychological, metaphysical and occult interests. Wizardry.

November 5th is the day of the Full Moon in Taurus and takes place at 4:58 am. So, the evenings of November 4th and 5th will both host our beloved satellite fully illumined by the light of the Sun. Taurus is a very sensual sign and Scorpio is passionate and intense. There is nothing casual about this alignment make the best of it with someone your intimately love! Romance, Passion, Sensuality and Sexuality.

November 6th hosts a Square between Venus in Scorpio and Neptune in Aquarius. This is a potentially disappointing follow-up after the Full Moon in Taurus. Neptune is about sweet dreams, ideals, illusions, delusions and fantasy and when combined this way with Venus is a challenge to keep our feelings and imagination in line with other, harder, more sober realities. Love is blind; reality binds.

November 7th is Election Day in the U.S. and on this day Mercury retrograde in Scorpio will form a conjunction with Venus. Generally, Mercury and Venus in Conjunction are indicative of artistic talent and it may well be used to this end, however you are artistically inclined. On the other hand, the underhanded hand, deceptions and foul play are likely. Both the sly and the vigilant will be keeping their eye on one another. They may be especially so in the U.S. considering the ongoing controversy concerning the, at least seemingly, scandalous activity of the election that saw George Bush re-gain the position of U.S President. It is interesting to note that Mercury is often retrograde at the time of the U.S. Elections. True artist or con artist?

November 8th is a busy day in the heavens as Mercury Squares Neptune at 12;24 am, Mars forms a Trine to Uranus at 8:23 am and the Sun and Mercury form a Conjunction at 1;31 pm. The Mercury/Neptune aspect again suggests deception of self and/or others. However, the Mars/Uranus and Sun/Mercury alignments suggest that anyone making deliberate moves to deceive others had better do it well because there will be others who will be fully alert to this possibility ready to blow the whistle and pounce upon deceivers. We can expect a lot of commentary on the news from this one. Games.

November 9th hosts the Sun forming a Square aspect to Neptune. This perpetuates the theme of deception mentioned above. It is a common characteristic of villains to deny their actions and cry innocence even in the face of hard convincing evidence as a means of either convincing others or perpetuating their own self-deceit. This can be seen as a survival tactic yet also sheer deception on the part of the unscrupulously ambitious. Deceptions.

November 11th reveals a conjunction between Mercury retrograde and Mars in Scorpio. This is the aspect of the great researcher or detective. “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice shame on me. Not this time buddy! Since both will be in close aspect to Neptune, there will most certainly be attempts by the devious to win the support of the naïve. Clever Words and Lies.

November 12th is also a sobering day as Venus Squares Neptune at 4:19 pm (see Nov. 6) and the Moon enters the Last ¼ Phase (Waning Half Moon).  Love is an emotion that blinds and people will either be fooled by such sentiments or they will act to fool others somehow, however, it won’t go so smoothly this time as it might have on the 6th. Reckoning.

November 13th Mercury forms a trine to Uranus at 9:29 am indicates illuminations, Eureka’s, discoveries and inventions especially by those who have been busy at certain projects. Pure Genius!

November 15th graces us with a conjunction between Venus and Jupiter in Scorpio, the lesser and greater ‘benefics’ of traditional Astrology. This could indicate a day of great good fortune if it forms a harmonious aspect to your Natal Chart. This aspect occurs at 28 degrees Scorpio so check your chart! Incidentally, some noted American Astrologers recognize this to be the Birthday of the U.S. Governments chart (Nov 15 1777.) The “People’s Chart” is the celebrated July 4 1776. This popular chart has been shown to have weight and influence by most U.S. Astrologers, however, according to the most strict rules of Astrology, the official birth date of a city or nation is marked by the day when all the legal papers are signed, which has been strongly evidenced to be November 15th 1777. Are there some, or perhaps many, people in denial about this fact, Astrologers included? It would seem so. In as much as this is true, the U.S. government stands to achieve a great financial boon somehow. Since Venus is in Scorpio where she is in Detriment, we might surmise that this boon would come from less than noble and ethical actions. Intrigue!

November 16th shows the Sun in Square to Saturn at 9:58 pm. This implies the need to combine will power with realistic actions and larger realities in mind. It is generally sober yet much can be achieved with the right attitude and focus.  Ambition.

An another note, if the skies are clear we may be blessed with witnessing the Leonids Meteor Shower and with the late Waning Moon, the skies will be dark. Mark your calendar and check it out on the internet to see if and when it will be visible for you.

November 17th is an active day as Venus enters Sagittarius at 12:02 am, Mars Squares Neptune at 11:01 am and Mercury turns Stationary Direct at 4:25 pm at 9 degrees Scorpio. This will be a day of transitional energy patterns that should feel relieving and inspiring – a good day for a party as it is a Friday night and the Moon’s aspects are favourable as well. Admittedly, the Mars/Neptune Square implies an impulsive imagination and a strong attraction to drugs and alcohol which might not be best especially at that time. Celebrate with Self-Control!

November 18th is another day of No Exact Aspects and is a great day to rest and enjoy leisure. Get you errands done before as you can or at least plan for a casual pace.

November 19th is also pretty uneventful aside from the fact that Uranus turns Direct after 5 months of being retrograde. So the above message applies to Sunday as well – a great weekend to get away somewhere reclusive or simply to snuggle in for the weekend. This is even more so since the Moon is at its last degrees before the New Moon on Monday. Retreat and Rest!

November 20th is New Moon in Scorpio Monday occurring at 2:18 pm at 28 degrees of Scorpio. Some of you may have been lured into the belief that last month’s New Moon was in Scorpio but it was in late Libra just as some might be led to believe that this one is in Sagittarius. These technicalities do matter to Astrologer’s especially but since they affect us all, it is worth knowing. Anyway, this stands to be a quiet day with the Monday blues, especially if you did not heed the good advice of laying low over the weekend. Enjoy the New Moon Mystique!

November 21st is a grand day as the Sun and Jupiter form a Conjunction at the very last degree of Scorpio. There is much that can be said about this meeting of Divinity (Sun) and royalty (Jupiter). In a basic sense, moods will be more enthusiastic, optimistic, generous, buoyant and philosophical and it could be a great day for risk ventures of all kinds. Broaden Horizons/Celebrate Life.

November 22nd is the day that the Sun enters Sagittarius which is ruled by Jupiter so the above theme will continue. With Mercury in trine to Uranus there is added spark for communications, the exchange of great ideas and visions and for brilliant thinking.

November 23rd is the day that Jupiter enters Sagittarius on the heals of the Sun, so to speak, at 8:44 pm. This is a very special few days (Nov 21, 22 & 23) with a New Moon Waxing and a lot of Sagittarius energy to uplift spirits. This will come as a very welcome time after some rather dark and serious energy over the preceding three weeks. Celebration!

November 25th shows Venus in Square to Uranus reminding us that all that Sagittarian energy can get a bit too carried away. Relationships could well undergo strain and kinky, unusual sexual attitudes and behaviour may be the culprit. Temperance!

November 28th shows Mercury in Scorpio regaining its lost ground in Square to Neptune at 4:54 pm – a good day to drive carefully especially since mars will form a Square aspect to Saturn at 6:59 pm. This may well prove to be a generally frustrating day and it would be best to exercise intentional patience.

November 30th shows the month ends on a pleasant note as Venus forms a Square to Neptune at 8:28 pm. This is very conducive to creative and imaginative expressions. Moods are easy and flowing and there is extra regard for others. I love everybody!
