Intro

  Summer is here and we have reason to cheer. Our northerly climate makes most if not all people yearn for sunny summer days where doing nothing but sitting outside and relaxing outside is the main goal. That’s the way it was here in Nelson today on Canada Day. The skies were clear, save for the odd cloud wisp and chemtrail crisscrossing the sky. Which by the way, made me wonder why the jets flying over head could not track a course a kilometre or two further north or south where few populations live and allow the blue sky to remain that way without artificial intervention or, as the conspiracies would have it, an artificial contamination and/or weather control? Valid questions would you not say? Perhaps we will become that much more aware and civilized in the future concerning such things.

  We are living during a time of rapid awakening. What we are awakening to is that there has been and is a good deal of secrecy and agendas at work in the world. This is not a new story but more and more people are aware thanks largely to the internet. This is linked to the Mutual reception of Uranus and Neptune – each planet is the sign the other rules, Uranus in Pisces and Neptune in Aquarius. Most popular media are not reliable sources when it comes to genuine information as they are privately owned and serve those who own them especially. So, we have the internet but many remain unaware that anything is happening from official sources, the higher ranking of which are concealed from public awareness and scrutiny. The disorganized masses are innocent, naïve, sleeping, complacent, overwhelmed and brainwashed to a fairly high degree. Yet, our challenge is to realize that we are not victims. We are each responsible for what we do and what we passively permit to occur. This is called passive consent. So humanity is entering an age where responsibility must be a shared thing and not left to the few who pretend to uphold popular interest and concern. This is the fundamental theme and challenge of the Aquarian Age which is said to have begun in 1875 and lasts for 2150 years! I am still unconvinced of this starting date yet use it as a working hypothesis.

  The rapid decline of the environment and virtually insane advances in industry from excessive mining, GMO’s, unmonitored dumping of waste by corporations, poor urban planning, wasteful consumption of precious natural resources and so on is now popular news and no longer hidden for the sake of perpetuating private interests.  Ironically, knowing this is good news or good journalism. This indicates the trend of our times and again is reflected in the current planetary alignments. We are also becoming more and more aware that we are intrinsically connected to nature and this includes the planets as well as the local and global environment. In other words, we are “re-awakening” to the holistic nature of reality and this basically points to the newly emerging paradigm. This world view recognizes and acknowledges that Astrology does have a scientific basis, a holistic science that is not purely a reflection of modern empirical science which, while it does serve us, has also lead us to materialistic perceptions. This is not simply a case of having a lot of possessions. The great concern is that it reduces us to quantities and numbers versus spiritual beings incarnate in matter for the sake of or reflective of a larger evolutionary plan. There is great danger in the materialistic mode of perception and it is important that we awaken to our divine nature and live it more fully. This is the basis of the revolution that humanity is entering – namely are we and universal essentially spiritual or merely material. This is as much a debate about the meaning of words as it is about scientific versus spiritualistic debates. Pluto entering Capricorn in January 2008 will synchronize with deep changes and purification of all ruling bodies and institutions particularly governments. Again, environmental concerns will become more and more common.

Update Blog

  It is early July and I am currently on the Sunshine Coast enjoying a busy week of doing personal Astrology Readings. I also did another “living In-Tune with the Moon” workshop. Attendance was  higher in quality than quantity yet we had a lot of fun learning how to use the Pocket Astrologer. Since little workshop could also be approached as an introduction to Astrology, it is exciting to awaken people’s mind to how intricately interwoven Astrology already is in every day life. That is because while the basic requirement of learning the Astrological alphabet does require some additional study, the other two components you already know very well. These are clocks and calendars. We all use them as they are a basic aspect of life. They are the foundation upon which basic Astrology rests and vice versa. I say vice versa because clocks and calendars are based on Astronomy. The rotations and cycles of the Earth, Moon and Sun are the basis of this Astronomy. Although this Astronomy is the very basics of Astronomy it is also the basis of calendars which are at the core of any culture and so is the basis of society which implies that it is not so basic after all. These and other such riddles of life are all lodged in the simplest aspects of applied knowledge. For example, while here I was introduced by my friend Beverly who is hosting me here in Sechelt to her friend Adrian who is an avid mathematician as he is also a mathematics teacher at Capilano College.  Anyway, as an avid student of Numerology I was excited to meet with Adrian and ask him questions about prime numbers. In Numerology these are 0 to 9. Anyway, we excitedly exchanged titles of books on numbers. Adrian led me to a mathematics text book for teachers called The Nature of Mathematics by Karl J. Smith. I could not have been happier with the title as Astrology and Numerology too are studies of nature or the interaction of archetypal nature and human nature. In exchange I introduced Adrian to Numerology with Chaldean Numerology by Leeyah Thompson and Constructing the Universe from 0-9 by Michael Schneider.

  The weather, by the way has been largely sunny and warm. I am staying here until the morning of July 12^th when I journey back to Vancouver to catch the 12:30 flight back to Castlegar airport which is 35 minutes from my home in Nelson BC. I also have some more readings to look forward to doing. I love Astrology and sharing my love with people is all part of that love. I do have some openings as well if you live nearby and are interested; I will be in Gibson’s all week so please contact me right away. Though I look forward to re-uniting with my other true love, Shari, I am enjoying this journey.

  Next weekend, July 13-15, Shari and I are going to Creston BC to the annual Garden Festival. The Waning Moon of Friday the 13^th, just prior to the New Moon in Cancer on Saturday the 14^th at 5:04 am PDT, is an ominous date and connection to the New Moon. Fortunately the aspects from the Moon to Mars and Uranus are harmonious and flowing and with proper awareness and intention this day can be co-created to be very successful indeed. The position of the New Moon is 21 Cancer 41 by the way, which is aligns with the Pisces Duad and decant of Cancer, but that is another story….

Current Events

July is the 7^th month of the Year. In as much as this relates to Neptune which rules number 7, it is a time of dreams and reflections. 7 is also about initiations and reclaiming our selves, our worth and power. Since we are in a Universal 9 Year, the numbers in 2007 when added equal 9, the two together equal 16, which when added equals 7 again. This is of course part of the magic of 9. Whenever any number is added to 9, the result unchanged when the numbers added and are reduced to a single digit. From the Tarot we discover that 7 is the Major Arcane Chariot and 16 is the Tower and then there are 4 Minor Arcana 7’s.  7 is a tricky number and three of the Minor Arcana are challenging cards implying detours, debauchery, fear of failure and even of success and feelings of confusion and overwhelm. This reflects the themes of Neptune. While Neptune is the planet of dreams and imagination, it is also the number of delusion, deception, denial and escapism. The 1 redeeming 7 is symbolic of affirming our worth and value and summoning the courage to face all fears and obstacles. Do you feel the need to affirm yourself and persevere beyond doubts this month? It is likely that you do as so does everyone else. This could be as simple as affirming your right to have quality time or it could reflect deeper themes as well. Just ask yourself where you need to be more affirming of your worth and where you need to break through obstacles to higher and/or healthier levels. The matrix symbol that is represented by this constellation of 7’s is a spiral. This is the symbol of involution and evolution – the decent of spirit into matter and the ascent from dense materiality back to higher realities and vibrations. “To return to the place from whence we came and to know it for the first time”, as T.S Elliot in this famous line of poetry illustrates, is reflected in this symbol as we return back to source laden with many incarnations of experience, wisdom and creative know how and power. In the negative, the downward spiral occurs when we fall somehow by way of bad choices or by not honouring our worth. Staying clear of downward spirals based on poor choices is a daily discipline. Good choices, of course, imply upward spirals. Use this symbol to remind yourself of your worth and the value of making healthy, conscious choices. This month is a good time to start. A natural upward spiral is reflected by the Waxing Moon and the downward by the Waning Moon. Digesting our experiences and letting go of the rest so as to remain fresh in the moment is reflected in the downward spiral Waning Moon and this is not negative per se, it is rather simply about letting go of the old as and when necessary to maintain balance in the flow.

Planetary Movements and Key Dates for July

Venus is now an evening star and since it is close to the Earth it appears very bright in the North West skies after sunset. If you look very closely and the skies are clear enough just before it sets you may even gain a glimpse of Saturn which is close by to the right and a little higher. It will appear as a very tiny light especially compared to Venus which is much closer to us despite the significant difference in size with Saturn being much larger.

Mercury turns Direct again on July 9^th. It will take another 3 weeks to recover the ground it ‘lost’ otherwise referred to as its ‘retrograde shadow’, and it will re-enter Leo on August 4^th and will be moving forward quickly again as the month progresses and enters Virgo on August 20^th.

Venus turns Retrograde on July 27^th at 10:27 am PDT positioned at 2 Virgo 57 and will turn Direct again on September 8^th at 9:13 am PDT positioned at 16 Leo 36 and it will take until October 11 before it recovers from its lost ground or shadow period. That date by the way coincides with the New Moon in Libra which is ruled by Venus. I will say more about it in future newsletters.

Jupiter will be slow in its Retrograde motion in July as it approaches its Station and turns Direct on August 6 at 7:06 pm PDT after 4 months of retrograde motion. Jupiter was positioned at 19 Sagittarius 47 and when it resumes Direct motion it will be at positioned 9 Sagittarius 56 and will take until November 1^st before it moves beyond its retrograde shadow.

Health Awareness

Last month I wrote about Mercury amalgams and the health hazards they cause. I am including this because of my own experiences with Mercury poisoning from amalgams in my mouth. I used to wonder if I had Chronic Fatigue. Fortunately, I also have long taken supplements which have helped to counterbalance the symptoms. I know others, however, who have probably been misdiagnosed at least in terms of core cause with such symptoms that it appears that their thyroid is malfunctioning for which drugs are administered and in the case of one woman I met; she has been taking them for 25 years!

Natural cellular Defence is taking off. It is natural and they claim that even pregnant women and babies can take it! I am now taking it and I am excited to remove those heavy metal toxins.

Global Events

July is the month of a New Year round in the Dreamspell calendar of Mayan Astrology. This date is July 26, 2007 and is followed by what is called a “Day Out of Time” which occurs on the 25th.  This day recognizes the fact that there are 13 rounds of 28 days or 13 cycles of the Moon in a year which ad up to 364 days leaving 1 day from a 365 day year. Thus a ‘day out of time’ so mark this day on your calendar and be aware and to tune-in to this shift as we progress up the evolutionary spiral. Last year we began a new 13 year round marked by what is the Red Magnetic Moon. While this cycle ends only in 2019, it is worth noting that it overlaps with the celebrated date of Dec 21, 2012 when the Maya Calendar, according to the Dreamspell, ends and a new one begins. The poem for the July 26, 2007 New year round is apt in light of humanities changing attitude about the environment. It reads as follows:

I unify in order to purify

Attracting Flow

I seal the process of Universal Water

With the magnetic tone of purpose

I am guided by my power doubled.

This is an apt message urging people to work together in consciousness and in fact to bring about needed changes. By the way, advocates for the long count calendar are getting a lot of press these days thanks to Karl Calleman. I trust there is truth and accuracy in the systems of time measurement and the prophesies they purport. Working daily with clients with the Dreamspell Calendar, I can attest to its remarkable and revealing accuracy.  Consciousness reveals itself in many ways. The Dreamspell was designed to align with the Gregorian Calendar which, what ever else that may be said, aligns with the sun and the light it reflects upon the planet.

 A global prayer event on July 17^th fits in with this intention very well. I will speak more of this momentarily. This years Mayan Glyph is the White Lunar Wizard and it reads as follows:

I polarize in order to enchant

Stabilizing receptivity

I seal the output of timelessness

With the lunar tone of challenge

I am guided by the power of death.

This somewhat dramatic message fits in well with the tone of the 5^th Night that begins in November 2007. Any of you who are really up on the Mayan Astrology may recognize that there is a crossover between the Long Count calendar and the Dreamspell. Some may believe that one is right and the other wrong but they both hold weight, according to my observations. The Dreamspell aligns with the Gregorian calendar which is aligned with the Sun and the seasons and is the globally accepted calendar, while the Long Count aligns with a larger galactic set of cycles that I do not fully understand yet. Anyway, there is a crossover and the theme for the year according to the July 26^th New Year day marker hints at the importance of wise counsel, letting go of relationships and relationship patterns that do not support and serve us, giving purpose to one’s life by way of making contributions to society and important endings and turning points. We will seek deeper meaning, be challenged to make sacrifices especially at a civic level and become much more aware of and sensitive about current issues, probably especially ecological and environmental concerns. The core theme related to this theme for the year is a deep desire and need for self improvement and the overcoming of obstacles and enemies. Teaching and leading by example are the keys along with allowing for multiple points of view.

Since I am at it for both yours and my own satisfaction of curiosity I am including the poem for the celebrated end date of December 21^st 2012. Again, please remember that not everyone agrees on this exact date but many remain focused upon it as a quick search on the internet will demonstrate. Anyway, here is the poem from the Dreamspell:

I dedicate in order to know

Universalizing healing

I seal the store of accomplishment

With the crystal tone of accomplishment

I am guided by the power of self-generation.

I basically interpret this to indicate the birth of a new vision for the world whereupon all countries and governments begin to work much more closely together to bring about healing at many levels. There remains much more to say about it and if you choose to keep up with this perspective you will find a rich and varied source of websites, books and prophets to illuminate you.

Musings of an Astrologer

The following fun piece is the result of a fun conversation with a friend while we discussed the fact that each day of the week is named after a planet.

I write and post my horoscope with Sunday as the first day of the week. The reason I start with Sunday is because it is the official first day of the week. According to the Gregorian calendar, we still recognize that this is so. Here is the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Days_of_the_week Due to the traditional approach of working life however, we tend to think that Monday is the first day of the week and Friday is the last day of the work week. Then comes the weekend where the first day is Saturday and last day is Sunday. Actually, the weekend is split with Saturn as the last day of the week and Sunday as the first. Most people would not see it this way, but this is the way it is. If Sunday is the first day of the week and Monday follows, I would vote that Saturday and Monday would be the weekend and the first day of the ‘work week’ would be Tuesday or Mars day, the planet of assertion and new beginnings.  Saturday would then be the last day of the week. I would vote for this because Sunday is the day of the Sun and there is much more to the Sun than most people realize. We tend to think of the Sun as a thing, an object that warms the planet etcetera. Fewer yet would appreciate that while we do exist as a ‘part’ of the whole galaxy which is a whole entity itself ‘separate’ by vast regions of ‘space’ from other galaxies, the solar system is itself a whole ‘entity’ and the Sun is the heart center of this entity. Now, please understand that I am not calling it the ‘heart center’ of the solar system for poetic or metaphorical purposes. No, I am saying that the Solar System its own cosmic being, it is an entity unto itself. A great whole within much greater wholes and cosmic networks until we reach beyond the galaxy itself which is a much greater ‘God’ than the Sun, which remains a creator God in its own right. Thinking that God is one or that there is one God are both linear perspectives. God is whole, or we might more accurately say it manifests itself holistically, subject to cosmic laws which transcend physical reality and reveal a multidimensional reality which is itself the foundation of dualistic materiality or reality as we know it. The deeper reality of this consciousness yet is that the Sun is the heart and we are an extension of its cosmic presence as a citizen in its own right according to that level of perception. We humans are spiritually and so intrinsically linked to the existence and consciousness of the Sun in the greater hierarchy of cosmic life. The entire universe expresses itself as whole within wholes and this is linked to the famous esoteric adage, “As Above. So Below”. We are one with the Sun in our greater relationship with the Galaxy and universe itself.

The Tuesday to Saturday ‘work week’ would, of course, disrupt the traditions of say marriage etc on Saturday, it is true. Getting married on Sunday makes so much more sense anyway because the Sun as the ruler of Leo and the 5^th House in Astrology is symbolic of fun, play, creativity, children, sexuality and romance. The Sun’s metal is Gold. However it is these traditions that are perpetuating a paternalistic perception and rule – Saturn is the planet that rules Saturday and is symbolically associated with the father or at least the authoritarian, duty, restriction, contraction and karma. Saturn’s metal is lead. This blocks humanity from material first to a spiritual first reality. Western Astrology aligns with the actual light of the Sun on the Earth.
