Horoscope for the week of October 10, 2008

Tip of the Week:

      Well here we are in the final stretch of both the Canadian and the United States federal and even municipal Elections. Voters will soon decide who will govern their respective countries. Amidst economic aftershocks of an unprecedented shake down of the banking institutions that is being felt all over the world, it is natural to ask what astrological factors are at play. Interestingly, the Canadian election will be decided during Mercury stationary retrograde and while the Moon is full in Aries! Mercury stationary retrograde means it will appear to be at a standstill in its motion as it slows to a stop before resuming direct motion. Mercury rules perceptions and communication processes and this will prove to produce unexpected events leading to disappointments as the decision making process is confounded by quirks, mistakes, bloopers and generally unexpected events coloring the entire term before the next election! Some will say that is life, especially when it comes to politics, but this will be true to a higher degree than usual. Many if not all platform policies will soon be forgotten or over ridden by other issues that arise. Again, such is the sad tradition with most politicians and political groups once in power. In addition to Mercury retrograde until October 15th, Venus and Mars in Scorpio bring deep desires for power subject to covert and possibly sinister behaviour along with ruthless ambition. Not only is this present currently, it also will be active for the duration of the term. This is based on what is actually called “Electional Astrology” which is the study of the planetary picture present at the moment of official initiatives where important legal signatures serve as the ‘first breath’ of the city, company, country or special event in question. The overall picture has some saving graces such as Jupiter and Saturn in a trine aspect suggesting creative solutions, especially regarding economic and environmental issues. However, the process of achieving these and the general tone may prove distasteful, even shameful and, again, with Mercury retrograde, the process will not be obvious and could well occur as a consequence of, or in the midst of, scandalous behaviour and events. Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 20)

Desire, passion and intrigue are setting the stage for drama worthy of the silver screen, or should I say plasma box. You will make extra efforts to conceal your deeper motives with a cool and agreeable front, and so too will others on your stage. Fact is you want to go big and win and so do other key players; yet confusion and deceit may well be lingering. There exist very large and complex factors amidst more current social and economic swings and the forces at play on personal levels are themselves filled with seductive guile. Caution!

Taurus (Apr 20 – May 21)

You are eager to realize dreams now. It is important that you know the facts especially well now in your dealings. While you want others to share their feelings and plans, you may feel reluctant to share your own. Meanwhile, key players are pushing you to invest. You are wise to proceed cautiously, especially if you are put in a liable position of any kind. The cliché’: ‘A bird in hand is better than two in the bush’ applies now. Love, passion and security are major factors. Exercise critical analysis before you say yes.

Gemini (May 21 – Jun 21)

The stage is set for all the drama of a Hollywood film. This could prove exciting yet also overwhelming and uncertain. Opportunities are present, but tensions are rising on economic and political fronts…everywhere! It is important that you be willing to focus and work diligently now. Delays and frustrations earlier in the year have yielded somewhat, so focus to make your every move count. Enjoy the drama but make conscious efforts not to get lost in it.

Cancer (Jun 22 – Jul 22)

Changes close to home continue to shake your world. Larger social changes are at play as well and are pushing you to pay attention. How can you create a greater measure of security for you and your family, with effective short-term measures? Be willing to learn new skills. Hands on training or at least practical applications are much more important than theory, especially now. Generally, be willing to learn new skills and keep an open mind about your options.

Leo (Jul 23 – Aug 23)

Attending to an array of errands, communications, visits and short journeys should be keeping you busy now. Amidst it all, this is a good time to assess your life by reflecting upon the past and projecting possibilities for the future. Financial delays and frustrations stand to shift for the better soon; are you prepared? Brain storm for ideas and take note of your ideas. The time is not ripe to take big risks yet. Do your homework and secure your foundation to prepare.

Virgo (Aug 24 – Sep 22)

Taking inventory of what you have, want and need is now underway. You are eager to entertain and to explore new options. You are eager to take some new initiatives. This is a good time to review your options and do some follow–up and investigative work. Aim to increase your network as well as your technical skills. Be careful that your ambitions do not exceed the energy, time and money you are willing to actually invest as well. Concentrate and follow through once you have a clear sense of direction. Think about your long-term plans.

Libra (Sep 23 – Oct 22)

You are in the mood to forge ahead with all engines fired. Your ambitions are running high, maybe too high for your own good. Be aware of wanting more than you can reasonably, healthily and honestly have. Your confidences could be inflated as you attempt to feel secure. Some risky ventures may well earn returns but be careful on long-term commitments. Small purchases or short term goals are the way to go now. Prepare the ground for bigger goals.

Scorpio (Oct 23 – Nov 21)

Desires for power are apparent now. The problem may be choosing where to focus. Your ambitions may be leading you in too many directions creating conflicts of interest and contradictions. Can you safely say you know who you are and what is truly best for you?  Take some time out to reflect to differentiate between fantasies and genuine dreams. Both have their place and are best enjoyed when kept there. Timing is the other factor. Concentrate on fulfilling needs rather than get lost in wants. 

Sagittarius (Nov 22 – Dec 21)

You may be wearing your individuality on your sleeve these days. Grand dreams and schemes continue to fill your mind. You may well feel the weight of responsibility as well as the limitations of your position. Somewhere between the two and with a very sober attitude and approach you may be able to get your way, but save the big whims for conversation pieces. This way you can enjoy them for what they are and not mix them with practical considerations.

Capricorn (Dec 22 – Jan 19)

You are determined to expand your position. Yet you know you have a lot to learn. Also, you are on the eve of some major changes. If you cooperate with these you could demonstrate some real leadership. However, resistance is futile so avoid trying to control people and situations and exercise self-control instead. Take note of who are your true friends. In the short term, be willing to approach others for assistance and to return favours.

Aquarius (Jan 20 – Feb 19)

Balancing the big picture with the small is especially important now. Your focus may not be as clear as it is usually. This will soon change. For now, be willing to take a philosophical approach on all matters of interest and perspective. Gather new tools and be open to new instruction and skills development. Comparisons and contrasts can serve to help you define your priorities better. Sometimes it is best to know what you do not want before asserting what you do.

Pisces (Feb 20 – Mar 20)

Some rather deep and potentially complex events are unfolding for you now. At best, you are clearing away the old and making key investments for the future. At worst, you are forceful in your approach and a turn off to others. Be willing to share the stage and the attention; cool down or be more assertive for the sake of harmony and balance. Ask questions, listen respectfully and be willing to learn or best results. Be willing to make changes and adjustments in your attitude, perspective and approach as necessary.
