An Opportunity for International Attention and Sharing of Collective Intentions

January 20th at 12 Noon EST is the date and time of the official inauguration for U.S. President Elect Barack Obama. It is highly likely that this event will gain the attention of people all over the world. Hopes and prayers fill the hearts of so many on an international scale. Hoping an expecting one man to change the whole world is idealistic, to say the least. I trust Barack Obama knows this as well. However, one person can significantly contribute to leading by example. This means vision, intention, cooperation and flexibility guided by love and reason. When we can think with our hearts and feel with our minds as well as the other way around, our true humanity is born. I sense that this is Barack Obama’s most essential quality. Wherever you are on that day and at that time

When this occurs the ends no longer justify the means. When that end is to serve a higher good and this is done with able leadership and wilful command, then a person is doing everything required.  Inspiring positive will and action in people generally and instilling integral leadership the others that one is in direct relationship with, is the inner intention. The rest is procedural with attention to the details as deeper powers guide and advise. People world wide are already inspired by this unprecedented and surprise turn of destiny that someone who genuinely appears good and sincere has won an important leadership position. Let us pray that this be an inspiration to us all to make positive contributions towards a better world. Learning to think with our hearts and feel with our minds is a simple first step.

I believe that this is actually happening on many levels all over the world. New leadership is emerging and it is characterized in great measure by Pluto in Virgo. This began as early as August of 1957. Uranus in Virgo as of November 1961 can be recognized as the birth of Generation X, with X symbolic of clean-up. So, this group may also be considered the ‘generation clean-up’. This wave of souls is here to introduce new visions, technologies and attitudes that especially support environmental and ecological improvements. This is to be done with new technologies, laws and an overall ethic that inspires wise and humble respect for health and cleanliness. Now back to the planetary line-up of activity.

            The date and time of an event such as this offer much insight for Astrologers to assess the inner meaning as well the synchronistic process and possibilities at play. Over the course of the next week the Sun will enter the Tropical Sign of Aquarius on January 19th to join forces with Jupiter, Chiron, Neptune and the Lunar North Node. All the while with Mercury now in retrograde motion this week, Mercury will revisit Jupiter and the Sun after having passed by them in December. Mercury will first cross paths again with Jupiter on January 18th and then with the Sun on January 20th at 7:59 am PST at 0 degrees Aquarius and then re-enter Capricorn later that day at 9:36 pm. What this generally implies, in terms of synchronistic events, is that people will be sharply focused and vigilantly aware. More importantly, this conjunction with the Sun while retrograde occurs on the morning of the day of President Obama’s inauguration!

            It is also very noteworthy that at exactly 12 noon on January 20th EST the Moon will be Void of Course (V/C) at 29 Scorpio 45 minutes. Then at exactly 12:30 pm EST the Moon enters Sagittarius. This presents a rather interesting perspective that Astrologers will recognize and consider. Of particular importance will be the exact moment that the swearing in ceremony occurs, beyond the preliminary procedures of the ceremony, as well as the exact moment that the oath of office is made official by way of the actual signature of Barack Obama. An official signature is akin to the first breath taken at birth – it holds a parallel of importance according to the branch of Astrology called “Electional”. This would be true of the signing of any legal document, especially those that mark the beginning of a company, city, nation, marriage, ship launching or official position and so on.

            In addition Mercury is retrograde on the 20th and change signs that very day, but the Moon will be Void of Course (V/C) at least at the onset of the inauguration ceremonies. The Moon is V/C at the moment when it makes its last official aspect to any other planet while in the sign it is in and the V/C period ends the moment when the moon enters the next sign. Since the Moon spends an average of 2.5 days in any sign, the occurrence of a V/C Moon is frequent and it can literally last anywhere from seconds to a couple of days. When the Moon is V/C it is considered an unfavourable time to attend to important affairs like major purchases or the launch of a ship or the signing of important contracts….

       The last aspect the Moon makes before entering the V/C period is also of importance. In the case of the U.S. Inauguration on January 20th 2009, the last aspect of the Moon is a Square to Neptune. Any aspect from the Moon to Neptune will produce a very imagination, escapist, dreamy and denial oriented patterns, and the Square Aspect is one of the most challenging suggestive of the planets operating at cross purposes and generally producing the more negative effects possible. In this case, it is extremely close to the wire as the Moon will be V/C at the beginning of the ceremony with a Neptune Square behind it and in the Sign of Scorpio which is one of its least favourable sign positions, and at 29 degrees which Astrologers recognize to be a ‘critical degree’! Together this clearly does not add up to be a very positive, promising or hopeful pattern at all. However, with the Moon entering moral, ethical, truthful and visionary Sagittarius just 30 minutes into the ceremony, which stands to be enough time before the official swearing-in and signing moment, there is reason to feel confident and at least hopeful that the crucial moment will cast a positive and victorious light upon the outcome. The synchronicity of the whole affair can perhaps be seen to represent the shadowy, dark, deceitful, violent and painful term in office that characterizes the past 8 years with George Bush Jr., yielding to the beginning of a new term and turn in U.S. politics and the hope and promise of a much brighter and turn of affairs in the world.

There is more involved than ceremony, although it serves to seal the power of the moment on psychic and emotional levels as well. Bringing ones own heart, mind, prayers and intentions to such an event are also a reality. In this way, we can enter into a state of communion no matter where we are in the world. Barack Obama’s victory is an unprecedented surprise and sign of hope for us all. Barack Obama’s victory transcends him as an individual person and what we think and hope he can and will do. From news reports we have reason to believe that the whole world will be watching. Perhaps not literally, but significantly enough to tilt the scales of consciousness, a one hundredth monkey principle, a merging of hearts and minds lending to a shift in our collective consciousness as a species transcending all race, language, creed and custom. Above and beyond all other considerations, this is what is signified and is available humanity at this dramatic turning point in time for our world.
