Born on the Cusp?

When reading your Horoscopes please note that persons born on or around the cusp and who do not know their actual Sun Sign might read both entries, especially the second one. For example, if you were born on February 19 your Sun Sign may be Aquarius or it may be Pisces. In this case you could read both Aquarius and Pisces. The “cusp” (border) between signs can occur anywhere between the 18th, especially in the case of the Aquarius/Pisces cusp, and the 24th day of each month, especially in the case of the Leo/Virgo cusp.

After a while you might realize which sign is actually yours. Again, you can read both, yet the sign that follows will certainly have a strong influence because the Sun “progresses”* into that sign.

In order to definitely know your Sun Sign, you may have to get an official Birth Chart  from an Astrologer. To do so you will need to know your birth time along with the full birth date and place.  If you do not know your time of birth and cannot obtain it from family records or family memory, you may decide to make the effort to get it.  (Having an approximate birth time helps if an Astrologer is consulted to determine the birth time through a process called "Chart Rectification". This is a true art that requires that the Astrologer be both intuitive and precise in the use of prediction techniques).  You can do this by one of the taking one of the following steps:

1) Approach the hospital where you were born. With computers, this information is becoming more readily available. If you are lucky, they will give it to you and for free.

2) Contact Vital Statistics in the Capitol City of the province, state, county, etcetera where you were born.

3) Some people have found success by using a pendulum or through muscle testing. Most Astrologers will want to test the time provided from such methods.

The official textbook dates for each Zodiac Sign are listed below. Again, you will notice cross over dates.

Aries: March 21 – April 19
Taurus: April 20 – May 20
Gemini: May 21 – Jun 21
Cancer: June 22 – July 22
Leo: July 23 – August 22
Virgo: August 23 – September 22
Libra: September 23 – October 22
Scorpio: October 23 – November 21
Sagittarius: November 22 – December 21
Capricorn: December 22 – January 19
Aquarius: January 20 – February 18
Pisces : February 19 – March 20

*Progressions are one of the most common forms of Astrological Technique used to decipher future events. Progression charts begin with advancing the Sun forward 1 degree for every year of age.  If you born on or near the cusp, the Sun would have progressed into the Sun Sign that follows within 1 - 3 years after your birth. The younger we are the more impressionable and it is common psychological knowledge that the first two years of life are when we are the most susceptible to the influence of our environment. This sensitivity or impressionability remains quite strong even up to seven years of age. I like to use the metaphor of wet cement that takes seven years to completely dry – the first two being the easiest time to leave marks and permanent features. This is why those of you who were actually born on the cusp within two degrees are very much the blend of two consecutive signs.

Knowing which sign you are actually and technically according to Western Astrology is very helpful.

Knowing the exact time of birth is generally required for definite accuracy. Many people do not know and cannot obtain this information. If you are one of these people, consider the following 4 steps that you can take:

1) Contact the actual hospital that you were born in. If they do not still have such information in their files, they will be able to offer you leads, the most obvious being Vital Statistics.

2) Contact Vital Statistics in the Capitol City of the Province or State, or as the case may be, where you were born.

3) Ask someone who is very good at dowsing to try and determine your birth time. Though most Astrologers will want to double check the results of this process, it has proven to be quite accurate on occasion. However, to double check for certainty the only tool I know that can confirm the time deciphered from dowsing is an Astrology chart measured using planetary transits and progressions.

4) Consult a professional Astrologer who is practiced and able to “rectify” your birth time. The art and process of birth time rectification can be very challenging, yet is a necessary skill for serious practitioners.

The Process of chart or birth time rectification generally implies questions asked by the Astrologer about certain characteristics that best describe you and when certain key events occurred in your life. Some Astrologers always double-check the birth time, even if it is given with a confident time like 12:37 pm, for example. When a client offers a birth time that seems rounded off to the hour, half hour and even quarter hour, this sends a message that the time given may be only an estimated or ‘guesstimated’ time. The fact that a person’s exact birth time can be determined based on key characteristics and events and their date and time is testimony to the power of Astrology to measure destiny.
As might be imagined, this process can take some time, yet it is very interesting and educational and valuable in itself if it is done well. So, charges for this service are generally incurred.

Please note, it can cost anywhere from $50.00 to $100.00 and possibly more to obtain a birth record from Vital Statistics and sometimes even the Hospital (though I have known of some people who have obtained it from the hospital of their birth for free) and it can cost about the same amount with a professional Astrologer and possibly more depending on the case due to the memory and/or self-awareness of the client.

I am well practiced in this art can help you to decipher the exact time of your birth. If you are interested in having your birth time rectified, please contact Michael O’Connor by phone (1-888-352-2936) or email (sunstar@netidea.com) with your full birth name, place, date and some events and dates that stand out as major experiences or turning points in your life.

On a final note, although the exact birth time is not entirely necessary to gain valuable awareness, insight and guidance into your personality and destiny, you will definitely benefit from getting your birth time rectified.
