Astrology and the Poetry of Nature

  Perhaps the most precious feature of Astrology is that it is so poetic. Astrology features a rich array of symbols that actually represent celestial bodies within our Solar System as with the Planets and beyond as with the major Fixed Stars, truly creating a language of the soul. Astrology features poetry of verse of the universe, rhyme in its rhythms, spirals of cycles, parallels and symmetries of aspect. Hosting a symphony of insight and meaning in its signs, symbols and language, Astrology truly is an inspiration offering rich insights from a cosmic signature. Yet the poetry goes even deeper than the divine secrets it whispers in its symbolic language. The poetry I speak of is creation itself. Creation is poetic as parallels of symmetry between its wide arrays of kingdoms each reveal a common source signature geometrical in nature and design. For example, the geometrical patterns of crystalline structure that is at the core of all things material. On molecular levels we find a microcosm of activity paralleling the cosmos as electrons and other subtle bodies orbit their nucleus.  This infinite dance of geometries existing at the root structure of every aspect of creation from the cosmic to the molecular, the simple geometrical to the sacred, the animate to the inanimate, the cosmic to the microcosmic and everything in between reveals a supremely beautiful and powerful poetic dance of intelligence, design, purpose. “The power of love” describes it best! Recognition of this intrinsic unity pervading all of creation is the awakening of Poetic Vision.

  When we recognize pentagrams and hexagrams in flowers and snowflakes we see symmetrical design. When a seashell exhibits harmonious waves and rhythms of the entire ocean we see harmony. When we see the spiral of clouds at the north and south poles we see signatures of our very own spiral galaxy, the Milky Way. When we learn from a palm reader that the planets leave their signature in our hands we see poetic parallels of purpose. When an iridologist reads the constitution and state of our health in our eyes we see the soul manifest in and through the body. When the planets mapped out for the moment we take our first breath at birth reveals so much of our very character and destiny, we see divinity at play. The symmetries go on and on revealing the signature of omniscience, all pervasive and omnipresent. When we see parallels between the insight and meaning in the patterns in the stars, in the lines in our hands, in the structure of our eyes, in the numbers of our birth date and name, in the Trumps of the Tarot, in the birth order position we hold in our family pattern we can identify order, intelligence and purpose in very similar interpretations from apparently diverse angles. Even different systems of Astrology reveal translations that defy linear logic. To know that because a person is born on a certain date that certain planets will certainly be dominant factors proves synchronicity as a law of nature. To be able to determine one’s nature, challenges and even events that will occur shows that in her sublime intelligence and rhythmic patterns, nature wants to be known and embraced like a lover. This is the true poetry of nature - the most sublime art is nature herself.

  The modern term that best describes the infinitely rich array of parallels of design, function, and purpose is holistic. Holistic implies an omniscient, omnipresent, all pervasive force that animates creation with laws revealing divine intent. Like an endless tapestry of cosmic energies weaving eternal splendour and mystery into creation from the largest galaxy to the tiniest atom, holistic vision recognizes that the Creator is infinitely creative, all pervasive and ever present. The flowers, crystals, snowflakes, organisms, planets, eyes, Chakras, etc. each unique and distinct yet sharing resemblances through parallels. Ripples and webs that connect in every possible direction, even transcending dimensions, bring the science of holism to poetic perception.  Envisioning this endless cosmic ocean of creation as one unified whole of creative intent is the Poetic Vision. The realization that we are not simply in nature, but are an expression of it; intrinsically one with the whole universe and beyond its outer majestic manifestations all the way to the source, to Nirvana, to the very kingdom of God, is poetry of the most sublime kind. This Poetic Vision is a Self-Realization, an illumination, a reality that dissolves, or at least checks, the categorizing, sorting and dividing mind of our ego personalities – it is its own form of enlightenment.

  Astrology and the Poetry of Nature is a workshop that awakens innocence and awe, wonder and imagination, reverence and devotion. Bearing witness to the sacred presence of divinity revealing itself in nature with signatures of love, purpose and intent is an important aspect of any true study of Astrology. This type of learning awakens intuition, recognizes the soul behind the personality and activates the spirit in our psychology. What may at first appear to be a flowery superficiality, to some, actually supports a firm foundation upon which the divine art and science of Astrology best rests. Astrology is truly poetic and to appreciate and understand it best one must awaken their Poetic Vision.

  This is a two-day workshop that establishes a clear recognition and a celebration of the spiritual nature of Astrology expressed in the natural world.

Day 1 includes images, poems, song lyrics, a slide show and clips from various movies and documentaries to awaken this poetic sensibility in a multi-media presentation.

Day 2 takes a closer look at the organic nature of Astrology beginning with the Four Elements, Fire, Earth, Air and Water, then moving through the seasons as they correspond with the signs, a journey into our Solar System to meet the Solar Logos and the Planetary Gods and culminates in the Astrology Chart or map which looks like the iris of the eye – both revealing the window of the soul.

By the end of the workshop you can expect to go home awakened and inspired. Also, you will be grounded and established in a way that will accelerate further Astrological studies. This workshop is both for students who want to nurture a deeper vision of Astrology rather than a purely intellectual approach and for anyone who shares and would like to celebrate this Poetic Vision.
